Chief Justin Geiss

Fire/Rescue/EMS

Chardon Fire Department is located 30 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio, in heart of the "snow belt" in northern Geauga County.  With 10 full time employees, and 40 part-timers, the department handles approximately 2200 calls each year, mostly for EMS service. We operate from one fire station on the square in the City of Chardon, Ohio.  Fire Suppression, Fire Prevention, Advanced Life Support EMS. Community Risk Reduction, and Public Education is provided to the City of Chardon, Chardon Twp, Claridon Twp, and Aquilla Village residents.  Automatic mutual aid response to Hambden, Munson, Burton, and parts of Concord Twp. are also included in our duties.

Day in and day out, the fire officers and firefighter/ paramedics of our department are providing award winning care to the residents and those who pass through our jurisdiction, including 42 square miles in Geauga County.

Our most common calls include EMS calls for the sick and injured, motor vehicle accidents, fire alarms, structure fires, hazmat situations, and invalid assists.

Along with the daily emergency calls comes teaching kids fire safety, CPR/AED & Stop The Bleed classes, along with fire inspections of homes and businesses.  We provide stand-by at community and athletic evens and public relations by working with local law enforcement, Chardon Schools and various City, Township and County agencies.

When a shiny red fire engine or ambulance is seen going down the road, just know that there is a lot of hard work and pre-planning that goes into those vehicles and personnel being able to respond and provide the absolute best service and care possible.
