Fire/Rescue/EMS
Chardon Fire Department is located 30 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio, in heart of the "snow belt" in northern Geauga County. With 8 full time employees, and 43 part-timers, the department handles approximately 2100 calls each year, mostly for EMS service. We operate from one fire station on the square in the City of Chardon, Ohio. Service is provided to Chardon City, Chardon Twp, and Claridon Twp. Automatic mutual aid response to Hambden, Munson, Burton, and parts of Concord Twp. are also included in our duties.
A huge thank you to the men and woman of the Chardon Fire Department. A new department record was set during 2022 of handling 2,206 Emergency Calls.
Day in and day out, the fire officers and firefighter/ paramedics of our department are providing award winning care to the residents and those who pass through Chardon City, Chardon Township, and Claridon Township, 42 square miles in Geauga County.
Our most common calls include structure fires, motor vehicle fires and accidents, injured and ill patients, hazmat situations, and fire and medical alarms.
Along with the daily emergency calls comes teaching kids fire safety, CPR/AED, Stop The Bleed classes, and fire inspection of homes and businesses. We provide stand-by at community events, and public relations by working with local law enforcement, Chardon Schools and various City, Township and County agencies.
When a shiny red fire engine or ambulance is seen going down the road, just know that there is a lot of hard work and pre-planning that goes into those vehicles and personnel being able to respond and provide the absolute best service and care possible.
Once again, thank you to the members of the CFD for all of your professionalism and excellent care of others since 1877!!
